Mrs. F. BRISKE entertained on Thanksgiving day. Her guests were: Mr. & Mrs. Clarence MAPLE Misses Agnes & Laura KENNY Mr. & Mrs. J. KENNY Miss Leila GORVAN Mr. & Mrs. Jerry HEJL Mr. & Mrs. Lumen GORNAN The MAPLE's and the HEJL's are visiting relatives here from Detroit.

Assisting at the Standard Oil station here is Melvin Arkin.

Mr. Harvey DANVILLE's family family at Copemish entertained H.A. WENDEL and family, and R.F. WENDEL on Thanksgiving day.

Mrs. B. ELLEFSON and Miss Helen ELLEFSON spent the day with Mr. Fritz WENDEL and family of Muskegon.

Mrs. Alex QUALE went with her sister, Mrs. WAUKLEY, to Chicago and will visit them for a few weeks.

Mr. & Mrs. PETERSON of Ludington were entertained at the home of Mr. & Mrs. QUIDORT on Thanksgiving day.

Visiting relatives in this locality on the weekend were: Lucien POTTER, Miss RADTKE and Miss Sadie GLOVER, all of Kalamazoo.

Mrs. Dena HANSON, of Chicago, received a visit from Leslie HANSON and Mrs. H.E. SORENSON.

Vacationing in Battle Creek are Mr. & Mrs. D.J. SMITH.

Visiting her parents in Detroit is Miss Helen CLOSE.

Mr. & Mrs. F. ULRICH have returned to their home in Manistee after visiting Mr. & Mrs. L. FIRZLAFF.

Spending the day together on Friday were Mr. & Mrs. Raymond WEAVER, and Mr. and Mrs. William WEAVER.

Mr. & Mrs. Leonard FIRZLAFF, and Mr. & Mrs. Ralph CRAWFORD had Thanks giving dinner at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Orson BAXTER.

Mrs. E.M. STEPHENS is being visited by her son, Arthur STEPHENS, of Detroit.

Mrs. Marian SEITZ had a houseguest last Wednesday night, Miss Nondes LEEDY. Miss LEEDY then returned to her home in Riverton.

Visiting their parents are Mr. & Mrs. Earl STILLSON and Alvin HAYWARD of Detroit.

Mr. and Mrs. Levi STANLEY had visitors Wednesday - Dorothy STANLEY of Saginaw, and Monroe STANLEY of Lansing.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred REEK of Fountain had these guests for Thanksgiving: Mr. & Mrs. Charles READER of Scottville; Mr. & Mrs. J.W. BENNETT, Mr. & Mrs. J.E. BENNETT, sons Harold, Bob and Ross of this village.

Mr. & Mrs. J.E. BENNETT, Jr., who live at Pickerel Lake, had the latter's parents for Thanksgiving. They are Mr. & Mrs. Otto PETERSON of Manistee.

Miss Mildred K. SEGEL, with her brother Grant, left for Detroit on a couple of days visit.

Ed CRAWFORD plowed snow off the village streets Friday morning.

Mr. & Mrs. M.R. EWALD, Mr. & Mrs. Lee COOPER and daughter Olive Louise, and Mr. &Mrs. Lyle COOPER were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.N. SANFORD and mother, Mrs. E. ALBERTSON at Thanksgiving.

Mr. & Mrs. Steve Darke of Riverton had the following Thanksgiving guests: Mr. & Mrs. Allison HILDEN and sons, Misses Gertrude KENYON, Meria JESKY and Frances JESKY; Mr. & Mrs. Henry GUERNSEY and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd EDDY with daughter GUEIDA of Freesoil.
 
LOCALS  
At Mercy hospital last night, Mrs. Beatrice Rutherford had an appendicitis operation. She lives at 211 Sycamore.

On Nov. 28, at Mrs. CHISTIANSON's Maternity home on Magill street, Mr. & Mrs. Carl ALTROCK had a baby girl. The ALTROCK family lives in Ludington.

The funeral of Mr. William KOLLER is tomorrow. John SCHEPERS and Mrs. Charles MALLOCH will arrive tonight from Grand Rapids to attend.

Mrs. R.G. PETERS,  of 448 Second St., will leave Thursday for LaGrange, Illinois. She will visit relatives for an undetermined length of time.

Helen HENCHEY, of Ypsilanti, was visited by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. James HENCHEY. She is a student at Michigan State Normal College, and is now able to attend classes after an attack of appendicitis.

Away at Chicago on business: Mr. Morris SHERAS, of the Joslin Mfg. Co. Mr. & Mrs. B.O. ROCKWELL of Ludington drove here to pay their respects to Mr. J.T. McGILLLIVRAY on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. McGILLIVRAY and her family live at 524 Fairview avenue.   
 
KALEVA 
At home, on Nov. 22, Master Roy PARKKILA entertained his classmates and teacher at a birthday party. Those attending: His parents, his brother Edwin, his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. John ANDERSON, Robert & John RENGO Jr., Arthur BOND, Clyde GANNON, Tony BLAZEK, Rudolph RANTA, Russell JOUPPI, & Elmer LECHRONE (his teacher).

Bringing home a large buck from their hunting trip to  Upper Michigan were Art GUSTAFSON and Tauno JUNTTUNEN.

Helen WILSON left for Lansing to spend Thanksgiving with her parents.

Business callers in Scottville Wednesday: William MAKINEN and Levern HILLIARD.

Attending the school program at Browntown high school on Tuesday evening: Misses Leona DICKSON, Aini PASANEN.

Business callers in town Wednesday: Mr. PETERSON & Mr. GUNNARD of Ludington.

Attending Central State Teachers College: Roy ASIALA and Waino PIHL. The two arrived Wednesday to spent the remainder of the week.

Leaving for Toledo to spend Thanksgiving with her sister, was Miss Margaret CRAMMOND.

Mr. and Mrs. KOSKELLA of Detroit arrived to spend Thanksgiving with their parents: Mr. & Mrs. K. KOSKELLA of Marilla, and Mrs. John WIITILLA.

Spending the remainder of the week with her parents in Ludington was Miss Norma GENETTE.

Arriving home to spend the remainder of the week were: George DODT & Wayco GUSTAFSON (Detroit City College) Waino GUSTAFSON (Teacher at Dearborn) Ida KAIKKONEN Ellen PUUSTINEN Anna KAUDY Esther HAKSLUOTO (who attends C.S.T.C. at Mt. Pleasant) arrived home Wednesday to spend Thanksgiving.

Students of business college at Grand Rapids, Mayme HAKSLUOTO and Jack LUHTONEN, arrived home to spend the remainder of the week.

Calling on business in Manistee Wednesday: Walter GUSTAFSON.

Arriving from California with his wife and baby was Ernest OLSON, son of Mr. & Mrs. Peter OLSON of Arcadia. He'll be spending Thanksgiving with his sister, Mrs. C.J. CHRISTENSEN. This is his first visit home in six years since he joined the Navy.   
 
TANNER 
Attending a Thanksgiving supper at Pleasanton Grange on Saturday night: Mr. & Mrs. R.E. ECKMAN. Rev. John CERMAK gave a fine talk. Miss Rachel MYER gave the history of the first Thanksgiving.

The Tanner school PTA gave a box social, and program Friday.Giving selections on the violin and organ were Miss Jane MAIDEN and Miss Ruth CORTRIGHT.

Jennie FROATS fell last week, hurting her back.

Calling on Mrs. E.J. McCLELLAN Wednesday evening, was Rose CERMACK.

Mary E. REED was a houseguest of Mrs. R.E. ECKMAN Wednesday night.

Dining together Sunday were Mr. & Mrs. E.J. McCLELLAN and the R.A. BOND family. The McCLELLAN's also visited Mr. and Mrs. GRAFSKY at Kaleva.

Visiting her mother and brothers here Thursday was Mrs. Leonora WILLIAMS.

Visiting their parents, Mr. & Mrs. H.E. HOFFMAN, were Mr. & Mrs. Roy GILBERT of Detroit.

Visiting the Tom EVERSON home on Friday  from Detroit were Mr. Arnold and Tom EVERSON, Jr.

Nel FROATS visited with Ed. McCLELLAND Friday.  
 
BEAR LAKE  
Visiting their father at Thanksgiving were Dr. J.H. CONNELLY and Miss Helen CONNELLY of Detroit.

Willis JUDD left in Mrs. Edith O'Rourke's car to bring home Miss Mary JUDD, Miss Teresa O'Rourke, Miss Esther KINGSCOTT of the Western State Teachers College at Kalamazoo. He also brought Edgar O'ROURKE of East Lansing. The drive took about 14 hours due to storms.

Thanksgiving guests of Mr. & Mrs. Lester  HALL: Mr. & Mrs. A. ELLIS and their son, Elmer Miss Grace PHYLLIS of Grace Twp., Benzie County.

A reunion was held by the RICHLEY family on Thanksgiving day, at the home of their parents.

Returning from a hunting trip to Channing, Michigan were: Adrian WILSON Lawrence RICHMOND (got a deer) George & George Jr. IVERSON (George got a buck)

Home for Thanksgiving day: Kathryn McCARTHY, Kathryn HEIDLEY, Jessie OSBORNE and Arleigh OSBORNE of Mt. Pleasant. Darrell McCARTHY, Kenneth IVERSON, Lucille GILMORE, Raymond BRADFORD of Ferris Institute, Big Rapids. Floyd McCARTHY of Cadillac.

Taking their mother to her home in Hillsdale were Mr. & Mrs. Grant KEEFER.

Entertaining at the Women's Club this Tuesday will be Mrs. Archie MARSHALL.

Left for Grand Rapids Friday: Dr. & Mrs. HOEKZEMA, and their daughters, Ruth and Donna Mae.

Spent Thanksgiving in Detroit: Dr. Ward NORCONK and wife.

Spending the weekend with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Han_ IVERSON, was Miss Dorothy IVERSON of the Benzonia teaching staff.  
 
NORWALK  
On the first Wednesday in December, the Ladies Aid Society will meet with Mrs. Geo. GILBERT.

Mr. & Mrs. R.V. WINBERG of Onekama had a  birthday party for their son, Kenneth.

The WINBERG family had some guests that arrived too late for Thanksgiving dinner.

James VanKOVERING and Alex ROE of Grand Rapids will stay until the storm is over, and will return after they've bagged their share of game here.

A pinochle party was held at the home of Will POTTER Saturday evening. Misses Myrtle and Mildred ANDERSON, Miss Evelyn GILBERT and her brother George attended.   
 
ONEKAMA JUNCTION 
Services at the Scandinavian Lutheran church were conducted by Rev. PAULSON of Manistee last Sunday.

Mrs. John ANDERSON had guests Thursday afternoon: Mrs. James ANDERSON and daughter.

Mrs. J. SLATER of Muskegon Returned home Sunday evening after a visit with relatives in Muskegon.

Mr. & Mrs. Ben BRANDT Henry BRANDT (son) Alden SHOWALTER of Onekama Spent time together Friday.
